She grabs well after you flip the shoes...Flip the shoes call it a day!
EDIT 7.7.17 - I didn’t need to swap my shoes on a few of the newer bells I bought from Treats. I did however had to spray the whole bell with brake clean. It’s a good thing the factory oils these bells up, I’d rather have to bathe these bad boys in brake clean then have a rusty clutch bell arrive at my doorstep.
EDIT - 10.26.17 Vespa Owners have had some of these clutch bells explode on them while revving the bike without load on the stand. To avoid this catastrophe don’t rev the bike on the stand and for insurance purposes I did the Rufus Reinforcement Ring on outside of the bell itself. Here's who I buy my Rufus Reinforcement Rings from
You want the 4 3/4 Steel ring. It will be tight but if you dermel out the inter of the ring a little bit it will fit around the clutch perfectly

I couldn't get a new clutch to work until I sanded the shoes smooth, and installed them the right way on accident. Fucking took hours of hard work to figure it out.

First off, the clutch shoes as pictured are Backwards. Flip em. Secondly, it had a bad tendency to stick on the shaft, needed to be reamed. Thirdly, the keyway is undersized, the entire area broke out. Still usable, just slightly shattered. Fourthly, the friction material is Low friction Clutch material (The Rubber bonded stuff) not Brake Lining (the metal reinforced stuff) The clutch had a hard time grabbing properly, and is vastly inferior to OEM starter clutch arms. You can buy this, and rework it to function properly, grind off the useless clutch material and glue some Mcmaster #6224K343 clutch material on there. Then it'll be as good as OEM.
