If you have a metrakit and a hpi mini rotor, or a similar high rpm setup, you will need a pull start. If this thing falls apart on you after a few weeks, you need a pull start.
If you have a point set up this will hold up good. Just my experience.

My dad and i have pretty much destroyed 4 of these starter plates. The bearing cap wears down very fast, bearing hole wallows out, and the tabs that keep it in the clutch bell get all mashed/mushroomed on the edges. If not caught quickly enough, the large spring pops out and disappears into the depths of the transmission requiring full disassembly to get it out. each one last for 100 - 200 miles.
maybe they are ok in stock engines? We have had several (kit + pipe + clutch) setups, all with the same results.

This start clutch plate has one flaw: instead of using a needle bearing assembly under the "cap" (the point where the clutch lever engages it) like the stock plates do, this plate uses soft round bearings that get smooshed fairly easily and quickly.

the lightened part lets more oil into and out of your clutch bell, which in turn makes the whole assembly run cooler... might even make your clutches last just a bit longer.
