This is precisely what you need, (especially if your case-matched E50 has barely any mating surface left).
Follow the directions on the package! - Yes, you brush it onto both halves. - Yes, just a thin layer on each. - It's kinda like rubber cement (and I bet you've been using that wrong all these years, too). - Always make sure your case halves are clean clean clean before you apply the material.
maybe there are other brands that are similar, and they're probably just as good too, but the point is this is the -type- of gasket material you should be using... none of that "lay a thin, continuous bead" nonsense.
(kinda stinky, too, get some ventilation goin)

I love this stuff for an e50 case seal. Goop some out on a piece of cardboard then brush it on thin with a small paint brush.
I also use it on my hobbit reed blocks and intake. Wonderful stuff. Smells weird!

If you need to use a sealant this is the stuff to use, it's very similar to hondabond and gasoline resistant unlike RTV sealants. Don't listen to the idiot who got it in his engine, if you're stupid enough to put so much on it gets in bad places you probably shouldn't be using it in the first place. Sucks to know people that dumb are driving around so close to my home.

Works on clutch covers, intakes, all kinds of stuff. "gas resistant", but basically gas proof, I use it on my Hobbit reed block/intake and it doesn't break down or get gooey.

In my opinion this stuff sucks.. I got tired of always having to replace my intake/malossi reed block gasket's so I thougt I'd try this stuff out...
The permatex got sucked in gunked up my piston rings/spark-plug/bearings leaving a gap in my intake flange for air to leak soft seize
tred to use gaskets after but the crank still feels all gunked up liitle balls of melted permatex come loose too and get stuck to the ceramic on my spark plug:(
