Bit of work to fit it to a '76 40V. Start by die grinding/bench grinding a relief slot in the bolt assembly to make room for the fuel tank ridge. Then grind off the weld for the seatpost bracket and remove approx. 1 inch of pipe. Then re-weld the bracket back on. Now it clears all of the steering hardware and still has enough bolt in the bar to adjust correctly.

i had a cracked frame/gas tank on my Moby. it was originally factory braise welded so all we could really do was re braise it, apply a little quick steel (to finish the seal) then threw one of these cross-bars on her for more support.... not a single leaky drop yet... and it looks speedy too.. ;-)

With a tad bit of bending and grinding I got this to fit nicely on my free spirit frame. Solid fit perfect for a top tank mount. Good constuction, although the welds holding the ends on could look a little better.
