remember the old days? rtv, beer can shims, over-tightening the clamp, carbs falling off down the hill into the river...WELL....

#1 GRANDPA has arrived! just a good ol' intake that does the job, heck it exceeds expectations in price and quality. dont take my word for it, let your engine do the talkin!

now says "12mm" on the side of it for SHHHHH ***sleeper time*** ripping. rest assured, they are still a 15mm ID intake! just measure it if ya don't believe me!

notice the recessed edges on the sides of the intake for easy of socket access. OD of the intake portion is perfect for your 12-15mm puch bing, so it seals like a charm! flows nice through the large opening on bottom, bigger than the previous one, and great for any puch piston port treat kit, stock cylinder, etc...& most importantly this one actually matches the intake port perfecto unlike the previous cheap versions of this 15mm intake you might see out there.

If you have been disappointed in all the 15mm bing intakes in your life then #1 grandpa is waiting to come and meet you and spend the rest of your life living with you.

center to center of mounting holes is 37mm with 6mm holes....***REMEMBER!!! do not over torque your intake bolts/nuts!!!***

designed for e50. on za50 you might have to turn your carb a bit to the side cause of the oil injection hump, or file that down a bit!

4 of 5 Replaces Free Spirit (Silver) Deluxe Intake April 17, 2024

Good replacement for original intake on Sears Silver Free Spirit (the 'Deluxe'). My original had an epoxy like residue inside, assuming it was left after the restrictor was taken out.

Took off one star, for the price it could have been given a quick little  polish, at least on the outside, especially on the inside. It does have a bead blasted rough finish with an etched logo.

Seems to be a bolt on replacement for the original with nearly identical features, except much better quality. Recommended.

Perfect fit on my 77 maxi with a 15mm Bing. The ports don't match perfect but it still works well.

Same as the comments below.  The new ones don’t line up for the stock airbox and vstack.  The great grandpa works perfectly.  I thought about drilling the holes a bit so i coukd turn it more but haven’t yet…

Very nice part, I was stoked to get #1 gramps installed with my monster ass 15mm bing. My dreams were dashed to pieces as I realized it just wont fit. stock intake bolt holes are slotted and use the innermost slots to bolt up. #1 gramp isn't slotted and the bolts are too wide apart to bolt up. Also i didn't realize how much of a port mismatch this new intake will have, the new one has a big port which will be shrouded by the stock cylinder quite alot. I'm still keeping it, one day i'll pull the cylinder off to port match and slot the holes. And that the way the news goes.

The original "Old Grandpas" were awesome.  These new 'run' of intakes do not line up.  They do not work well at all.  Use something else until the iron this one out.
