Replacing the crank in a ZA50 is quite a job. And it requires a lot of little tools like this one. Maybe you can skimp on some of those unavailable factory tools, but this one is one that you absolutely want.
Can you get by without it? Probably. Just throw everything together how it was and make sure it doesn't bind, right? Maybe you haven't experienced enough pain in your life. Maybe you need something new to be in agony over. It'll run for a while! You do you.
The rest of us will get this tool. Using this tool, I found I needed a 0.15mm shim under the crank bearing on my magneto side, and that my transmission side bearing needed no shim.
Reassembling the case, I found the fit perfect with no play whatsoever. To the victor go the spoils of longevity.
Seems like just a tiny thing, but now I have peace of mind, and this little rather-expensive tool gave it to me. Hopefully it does the same for you
